Guidelines on Appropriate Clothing for DASH students
At DASH we encourage students to express their individuality and we do not have a mandatory uniform requirement. However, it is the responsibility of the student to dress in a manner consistent with our school guidelines and to take pride in their personal appearance. All students are to comply with the Board Approved Minimal Districtwide Dress Code as stated in Board Policy 5511 – Dress Code. These are also available on page 9 of our student agenda book.
- Clothes displaying representations (direct or implied) of drugs, weapons, alcohol, or obscenity are not allowed.
- Undergarments, including boxers and bra straps, should be kept under the clothes and out of sight.
- The length of skirts, skorts, and shorts must extend below the student’s fingertips when the student’s arms are extended at his/her sides. All parts of stomach and back must be fully covered without pulling or tugging.
- All shoes should be closed (no flip flops or backless shoes).
- Pajama tops and bottoms are not allowed.
- Bathing suits and beach attire are not permitted.
School administrators will inform students when they are violating the dress code. Students in violation are expected to immediately correct the issue by changing their attire. If changes cannot be made at school, the parent/guardian will be contacted. Repeated violations may result in disciplinary action.
