The DASH audition consists of three sections:
Review of the portfolio and sketchbook, studio performance, and an interview.
Portfolio and Sketchbook Review
The portfolio should include ten examples of original and authentic art work created within the last couple years by the applicant themself only. The sketchbook should be 8” x 11”. Please include a majority of observation art that accurately portrays three-dimensional subject matter observed from life, not from still image sources.
Studio Performance
Two in-person audition-day drawings: self-portrait from observation, and creative landscape from imagination. Each participant will be provided with the necessary materials.
Interview
A member of the faculty will interview the applicant to determine the levels of motivation, commitment, and suitability for the program.
